Every Sunday the tastefully arranged flowers spoke of their loving thought, and hundreds of hearts were gladdened by the fragrant blossoms that they weekly sent to the hospitals. A bright thought came to Nettie one day as they were arranging the bouquets. "Wouldn't it be nice if we could each start some slips of plants in little pots, and have them in a flourishing condition by September? Then when the industrial school opens again, we could send a plant to each scholar. I am sure they would enjoy having them in their homes and watching the blossoms come out." "Capital!" Ted cried enthusiastically, and all the other girls expressed their unanimous satisfaction with the plan. To plan was to accomplish, with these energetic girls; and so it came to pass that on the opening day of school each child's heart was gladdened by a growing plant to take home. It was a pity that all the Ten could not have been there to see the delight which beamed from the thin, wan little faces as the treasures were placed in the eager hands; but they had from Ada's aunt a glowing description of the happiness they had given which answered nearly as well. One little stranger had wandered into school that day with the other children. She lived at too great a distance to attend the school, but had accompanied a little friend from curiosity. When she heard the roll called, and saw each child go up to receive her flower, she clasped her hands tightly together and watched the teacher with eager expectancy.
